Mother Seeks Apology in Daughter’s Asthma Death

A New York City mother says a police officer blocked her from getting to hospital as her daughter was suffering a fatal asthma attack in August 2010.

Carmen Ojeda demanded the NYPD officer apologize for the loss of her 11-year-old daughter Briana’s life after he insisted on stopping her car because she went the wrong way on a one-way street and sideswiped a car.

Ojeda in fact was making a desperate bid to get her daughter, who was in the midst of a serious asthma attack, to hospital.

Witnesses back Ojeda’s claim that the officer, who didn’t immediately come forward after Briana Ojeda’s death became public, refused to help the mother and the girl. Read more.
