May 2011 Awareness Month: Food Allergy

May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. So what can you do to participate? Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  • Food Allergy Awareness Week runs May 8-14. The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network offers excellent ideas on how to raise awareness of and garner support for food allergies. For example, why not create a Best Poster contest in your kids school? FAAN offers ideas for allergy-related poster messages. Or, think about doing a food allergy presentation for your co-workers.
  • In Canada, the Allergy/Asthma Information Association and EpiPen are hosting cross-country Take Action Events to help raise funds for anaphylaxis. Ottawa and Kelowna held great events, and there are more events coming up. Lace up your sneakers, solicit donations and support an important cause!
