Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips recalled due to possible seeds, fruits contamination
Enjoy Life Foods has announced the voluntarily recall a single production lot of Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Chips (10 oz. bag) due to some bags containing sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and/or dried fruits. These were inadvertently added to the product, and not declared on the package (pictured opposite).
The company made the announcement on August 28, 2015 in a press release on its website.
The press release notes that only products sold in the United States are affected by the recall, and only the specific Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Chips product. The UPC code on the recalled product is: 853522 000306. The best by date, listed on the back right of the package, is: Jun 18 2016.
Enjoy Life says the problem with the popular allergy-friendly chocolate chips was brought to their attention by consumers discussing the issue over social media and other communications, and one illness (possibly an allergic reaction) has been reported.
Consumers can contact Enjoy Life at 1-877-807-5633, 24 hours a day to get further details on the recall and to find out how to receive a refund. Consumer Relations specialists are available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central.
The FDA has also been made aware of the voluntary recall.
