I'm glenna I'm new to the site, not entirely new to allergies. Ds is 3 and was diagnosed with his peanut and fish allergies at 18 months. Dd had a large reaction to a pork rind that she ate when she was 5, an hour after eating it she started scratching (I thought she might have had spiders in her bed). Instantly she was covered head to toe in hives.
I'm so glad to find a site that deals with everyones allergy, so far I've only been on peanutallergy.com.

Hi, and welcome to the site. Were you able to identify what ingredient in pork rinds caused the reaction? When I was a kid, I thought that I was allergic to hot dogs sometimes. . . but I was probably reacting to the soy protein.

No, I don't know if it was a single brand, or what. Who knows exactly what is in them anyway. Her dr didn't seem worried about it and never wanted an allergy test. Her current ped. (who got ds in asap to be tested) said that since it's been nearly 4 years without any reaction at all, just to keep her from them. We don't restrict any soy (in fact she's had seasoned soy nuts) and hasn't had any problems so far. Not sure what was in them, I'm just glad that she only ate one.
