Our family is about to foray into the world of travelling with allergies (egg and peanut) and I came across Plane Sheets: The Original Airline Seat Covers . They fit right over the airplane seat (economy or first class) You can purchase either disposable ($12.99) or Washable ($24.99-$29.99).

Did you try them? That is an interesting concept. I wonder if the disposable ones are only good for one flight. Concern with the washable is that if there are allergens on it then it would go in the laundry and on a trip it may be difficult enough to do laundry. But sitting on plastic is not nice either but better than allergens :)

We did try them and to be perfectly honest, they werent great.

- Tthey shifted on the seat (which is what I really wanted covered

- The part that goes over the back went to far and covered the screen of the people behind us. (Lucky for us they were very understanding)

I did find one product I found very useful and that was the Trayblecloth from http://www.lovetotravelproducts.com/ We chose the disposable one; the velcro wasn't perfect but it did the trick. I liked knowing that even though I wiped down the table I had extra insurance.

Had a great trip to Walt Disney with no allergy issues. :D

Thank you for the feedback on the seat covers. It really helps to have another parent with similar needs to have tried it.

you can try travel sheets from Allersac, they advertise in the magazine in the marketplace section.

If the plane has leather seats, you can simply wipe them down. We did this when we flew on WestJet.

That's what was so great about Jetsgo, all the planes had leather(vinyl ) seats, some wipes and a cleaning of the armrests and you were good to go.Too bad their gone, some airlines will actually tell you if the plane is equiped with leather or vinyl
