Does anyone know of an allergy group in PEI and/or NS? We are travelling there soon and are looking for allergy-aware restaurants, bakeries, ice creams, etc. without having to go to mulitple restaurants to see if we feel comfortable eating there.

We are staying in cottages so won't be eating out a lot, but would still like to know what's available to us.

Avoiding peanuts, nuts, chickpeas, fish & shellfish (fish and shellfish will be difficult to avoid in the Maritimes) :(

Thanks.

haven't been there in ages, so I don't know what's safe anymore.

But, can I hide in your trunk?

when I went years ago, I found most places seemed more allergy aware then in Ontario, at that time. I don't eat in restaurants though.

just remembered, if McDonald's is someplace you do trust, you might want to check first. On the island they sell McLobster Burgers. :frightened

Hi there! I am not sure when/where in PEI and NS you are traveling, but we just had a great experience in Halifax. We ate at the Victory Arms Pub which is beside the Lord Nelson hotel. It has great food. We called ahead to see if we could eat there safely, and when we arrived the wait staff said "oh we were waiting for you" when we mentioned the nut allergy while ordering. Someone who appeared to be the head wait-staff person also came over while we were waiting and told us the chef was just re-scrubbing her hands and her pots before she cooked our daughters pasta. Best place we have ever eaten in terms of safety and accommodation!

We live in PIctou County, close to the ferry to PEI. In New Glasgow we often eat at The Dock ( another pub) and at Cafe Italia with no issues, but we never eat dessert. We are also often in PEI, but camp a lot, so I can't think of any restaurants where we have eaten there recently.

Hope that helps!
