Howdy,

I have a peanut allergy, relatively severe (anaphylactic shock, epi pen, medic alert bracelet and the lot).

I'm wondering if anybody knows of any resources with common ingredients in cuisine from around the world. I know nothing could be 100% definitive, but for instance, I know that Thai food uses a lot of peanut sauces. I know that Italian food is relatively low peanut content. Indian food has a lot of lentils (which I am also sensitive to), North American burgers are pretty free of lentils and peanuts.

Get the idea?

Specifically, I'm interested in travelling to the Caribean, but aside from delicious, delicious jerk sauce, I have no idea of the kinds of foods they serve. I eat microwavable Jamaican Patties from the 7-11 occasionally, but my knowledge of Caribean ingredients ends there.

I'd check the Let's Eat Out book and mini-guides. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/097648 ... e&n=283155

Not sure if they can help you on Caribbean cuisine, but they've certainly addressed Thai and others.
