I have been reading a few places now to avoid deli meats - can someone explain to me why? and those this include package meats or just fresh cut?

I avoid deli meat due to issues of cross contamiination but I'm mainly concerned about dairy and egg.

Are there peanuts in the deli area? I'm sure they have nuts in some of the salads.

I prefer to purchase foods which are sealed before they get to the store to reduce the risk of cross contamination but then, we're dealing with multiple allergies.

There aren't any salads that I know if - it is all just meats.
Oh that note - are salad dressing bad too?
