My DH and I want to take our 3 kids to the Rainforest Cafe in Toronto in the near future. Our oldest DS (age 6 1/2 yrs) is very allergic to peanuts. Has anyone eaten there before? I tried to find a website for the restaurant but there's no site with nutritional info on it. It sounds like they sell Kelsey's-type food but I was wondering about allergens.

It isn't about the restaurants in Toronto but there is a thread about the Niagara Falls Rainforest Cafe here:

Positive and negative experiences.

We went to one ...They used peanut oil in some dishes and I think there were peanuts in some of their dishes as well. They did assign a chef to our dinner when the waitress found out their was a life threatening food allergy...that was shortly after our son was diagnosed...but now that I have learned more about life-threatening allergies....I would not take him anywhere that used peanut oil or peanuts in their restaurant again.

We ate there when we lived in the States. I'm pretty sure I remember that they used peanut oil for their fries. Surprising, as I don't think I've come across this before, or since. This was some years ago though..............maybe 8 - 9.

I haven't eaten there, but I did speak to the manager at the one in Yorkdale. She told me there was nothing to worry about and that the kids meals were prepared in a separate section...we still haven't ventured there and this was a while ago that I spoke with her, you may want to double check again.
