I know that after the summer issue I complained that Susur wasn't a realistic dining option for most people, but as it turns out, we had our office Christmas party at Susur last week! Good thing it was on the firm expense tab because it came to $1400 for 6 people! IF you can afford it, I definitely recommend it. Not only was it an absolutely decadent, heavenly culinary experience, but a few days before our party someone from the restaurant called our office to find out if there were any allergies. They change their menu daily (I think) so they wanted to prepare for any possible food allergies. Then when we arrived at the restaurant, our server again asked us if anyone had any food allergies. To top it off, they explained in great detail the ingredients of each course (all 7 courses :) ). Of course, it's my daughter who has the food allergy and she wasn't there, but as the mother of a food-allergic child, I could definitely appreciate the care they took to watch out for allergies.

Like I said, if you can afford it, definitely check it out. http://www.susur.com

Unfortunately Susur's is now closed. It's been replaced by two new restaurants and I've noticed lots of peanut/nut products on their menus. I don't know if they are still allergy-friendly. Anyone know?

It seems chef Susur Lee has left Canada for the US.
