We recently found out our daughter (4) is allergic to peanuts, so I have been contacting our favourite restaurants to ask for their recommendations for handling this when we eat out. Many have been very supportive, but IHOP, not so much! Here is what they replied:

"Thank you for your recent request for a list of Peanut-free menu items available at IHOP. Due to the frequency in which we change our menus, as well as the small risk of cross-contact, we can not provide the list you requested. The health and safety of our guests is simply too important to risk sharing inaccurate or outdated nutritional information."

It's too bad, we eat out for breakfast more often than dinner and IHOP was one of our favourite places...

The good news is that they are honest about not being able to provide a safe meal. It sounds like you have had positive feedback from other places, hope you can find a new favorite eating spot.

Off topic. When pregnant with DD (almost 12 yrs ago) I craved meatballs and meat loaf all the time. I got a lot of strange looks when chowing down at IHOP at 6am on a huge meatloaf dinner. Where else could I order from the breakfast/lunch/dinner menu all day long.

Do you have Smitty's nearby? When I inquired about allergens, my emails were responded to by the President (or someone using his email account :pipe ).
