Are there any special kitchen tools you use or don't use? Like, would a wooden spoon be dangerous, because it might absorb allergens? Is plastic best? Or metal?

My old wooden spoons got tossed or given away. Cast iron got scrubbed down (no more seasoning) and reseasoned. Cutting boards got replaced. Non-stick surfaces are porous, so those got tossed or given away. I usually only cook with glass or stainless steel.

I don't use much plastic, anyhow. We don't use rubber, either. Our utensils are all metal or silicone. There are a few hard non-porous plastic-type utensils--I think they're actually nylon of some sort. I'm not completely sure.
