I wanted to try the banana cupcake recipe in the winter edition of Allergic Living and it asks for "oat flour" and "barley flour" -- I've never purchased these flours before and was hoping that someone could save me some time researching -- do you buy these at a regular grocery store? Do you know of a particular brand that is free from cross-contam. with peanut / nuts? Thanks!

For oat flour, I'd grind oats in a coffee grinder. You can probably grind the barley too--it won't be as fine as flour, but if the recipe calls for other flours, it should be okay.

Bob's Red Mill sells a variety of flours . . . but when I called them they said they are not safe for the tree nut allergic. I think that Oak Manor sells oat flour . . . may be wrong on that, though. Loblaws carries Oak Manor products---they might order it for you.
