Wow, trying those for sure!!!!! We got an ice cream maker when we found out DD was allergic to peanuts, but stopped using it when realized DS was allergic to dairy. These sound great!

Here's a how to that doesn't require an ice cream maker! You can make up the safe mixture and replace the recipe in this website with approx 1 cup of it! Maybe change the flavour in susequent trials.

What I like with Pam's recipes is that she and her husband have experimented with the dairy-free components,
and the recipes have passed their rigid "taste test".

I got REALLY excited until I saw the coconut...there are sulfites in coconut...but that sounds delish....I think I can try yogurt based "ice cream" will look on here for that....

Does anyone know if you can substitute the coconut for soymilk?

Ice cream is like watery custard that is frozen, right?

Hi all,

We were trying to make a frozen dessert that was free of the top allergens, so definitely modify the recipes to make them work for your situation.

The canned coconut milk/creams that I found in the stores all contained sulphites, but you may be able to find a powdered product that is just pure coconut.

My husband is a food purist, so it was difficult for him mentally to come up with something that didn't start with an egg custard as a base, so if you don't have a problem with egg, I would try making
a traditional custard base and then substitute soymilk for the dairy, if dairy is the issue.

If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow pan, and then stir it up every 1/2 hour or so until it is almost frozen solid, so that the consistancy is even. Then pack it into a deeper container to store.
