I just posted this elsewhere on this site but thought I'd post it here too.

If you go to

http://www.epi-man.com/keck_slides&notes_7March06.pdf

you will see the presentation that I did for Allergy Expo (May 2005) called A long and winding road... The psychological impact of managing children’s asthma and anaphylaxis: Coping strategies for parents.

I updated it in March 2006 because a journalist wanted some info about how our family has coped with allergies, and I just added a few bits of info now to the Epilogue at the end.

By talking about the coping strategies that my familiy used, I had hoped that it would help others in a similar situation.

I welcome any feedback. :)

K.

Karen, I enjoyed reading your story. I liked the pictures of the kids too...they're cute. It's nice to see how they too (like my girls) look like happy kids.

Thanks. :) I think that's what keeps me sane most days - they are healthy and happy and they look it.

What an wonderful presentation. It really gives people a little snapshot of the incredible responsibility parents of allergic children must face everyday ( and night!). I like the photo of your allergy information plan on page 12. It seems much simpler than the ones I have seen which seem to have too much information and I felt the important information gets lost. Did you create it yourself?

Thanks. :)

The action plan is based on one provided by the AQAA years ago - I modified it to simplify it and to suit our needs. I've since updated it with some info found in the action plan in the new anaphylaxis guidelines ( http://www.allergysafecommunities.ca/de ... atsubid=33 ). I have one in English and in French for each child.

If you want a Word version just PM me with your email and I'll send it.

Thanks Karen. I think I will take the one from your link and modify it too.
