Hello Everyone :)

Thanks to CBC Radio, I've just now learned about Allergic Living magazine and found this forum.

I have a rare disorder called mastocytosis. It presents with various symptoms, many of which mimic the stress response. It also causes the allergic response to everything from foods, temperatures, scents, emotions and of course, stress.

A few years ago, I founded a national support organization called Canada Mastocytosis Support. We have a message board at http://cmsadmin.proboards43.com/index.cgi

I am going to write to the Editor of Allergic Living Magazine as well. But in the meantime, if anyone is having difficulties with allergies or allergy-like symptoms (child or adult) and doesn't know why, I wanted to mention Mastocytosis. If you search that name or "mast cell", you will find a wealth of information about this rare disorder and the function of mast cells in our immune systems.

This is a great magazine and forum and I plan to link to it for our members.

Warm regards,
Carrie
Canada Mastocytosis Support

Thanks Carrie, and welcome!

I actually have heard of mastocytosis, and had at one point wondered if my youngest son had it. I don't think he does, but I look forward to doing a little more research about it now!

I just heard of a site for kids with mastocytosis called MastoKids.org.

It's at http://www.mastokids.org/ .

I'm still worried about my son, whose knees hurt a lot. Everyone says it's just growing pains, but I'm not convinced... :?
