One of my support group members sent me the following enquiry yesterday:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was talking to a parent yesterday who wanted to warn me about genetically modified strawberries. Her husband had heard that strawberries are being modified using peanut protein to be able to create larger berries. If this is true we would have to not allow our children to eat strawberries as labeling laws are not applying to genetically modified foods.

Have you heard anything about this?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I replied that I haven’t actually heard of that.

I sent the query to www.snopes.com – who post about urban myths (and whether they are true or not).

It wasn’t listed in their foods section at http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/warnings.asp .

Anyone else heard about this? I will report back if snopes replies to me.

K.
