I don't think it's a nut. It's from the same *fruit* as mace. And both are spices.

I did a google search, and I tried to link to the page, but it didn't work.

We had a very heated debate about this issue and then finally consulted our allergist :D

"Is nutmeg safe?
Nutmeg is obtained from the seeds of the tropical tree species Myristica fragrans. It is safe for an individual with a tree nut allergy. "
