I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Is an almond a nut? If something has an ingredient of Pure Almond Extract, does that mean that it contains "nuts" and should be avoided by a person with allergies to nuts?

The reason why I ask is because I was looking at a box of Dare Simple Pleasures Cookies, the Digestive ones and noticed that they make an almond cookie. I went on the website and they list Pure Almond Extract as an ingredient and it also says baked in a nut free/peanut free facility. So I don't know if Pure Almond Extract is considered a nut or not.
