I want to know how many of you avoid products that contain "nut oil" like the macadamia nut oil in Cetaphil and the oils in Bath and Body Works products. I am having a hard time deciphering if these products contain the proteins in them or not. DD has never reacted to them (Cetaphil, specifically).

So, here's a poll:

HAVE YOU EVER CLEARLY REACTED TO A MAINSTREAM LOTION OR SOAP OR MAKEUP THAT CONTAINED A NUT OIL?

My husband is currently using a prescription oil (Dermasmoothe) to treat his eczema. He is anaphylactic to peanuts and this oil contains peanut oil. He was told by his allergist that the peanuts in it are so refined that they will not cause a reaction. He has not reacted to it at all and he has been using it for almost a year now.

Ever since my son was little he has always had dry skin. I was using cetaphil, not even realizing it had macadamia nut oil in it. He has never had a reaction with it, in fact it helps his skin tremedously. The bath and body stuff i always stayed clear from..after i realized the cetaphil had nut oil in it i started reading all lotion labels, and didn't take chances. I guess i was learning as i went along.
He has positively outgrown all peanut, tree nuts thus far except pistachio, brazil, macadamia..we are challenging those shortly as well. Age 11yrs

We avoid most mainstream lotionsfor our daughter. She reacted to Baby Magic as an infant but I have no idea what caused the reaction.

I read labels and test everything.

For skin contact I have to avoid all nut oils including shae butter which I am led to believe is not a true nut. For candles and room scents I must avoid nut oils because I have discovered that I will become dazed and disoriented after prolonged exposure.
