Hi - wondering if anyone knows the scoop here... I assumed that since General Mills started making all their cereals with "Whole Grains", that they were now adding wheat to everything. At least I know this is the case for Cheerios, which sadly my son can no longer eat. I read somewhere that there may be a few GM cereals without wheat (ie. Trix, Dora Cinnamon Squares, Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles). Does anyone know if these cereals are wheat-free in Canada.. or better yet, have you fed them to your wheat-allergic child, or eaten them yourself without incident? Thanks!

Sorry - we no longer avoid wheat so it's not an issue.

Have you heard of Heinz Toddler Nutrios? They are like Cheerios, and were wheat-free when we were avoiding wheat (2000-2004).

But unfortunately no ingredients list there - but look in the baby food section of your grocery store and hopefully you'll find them - and hopefully they won't have added wheat.

There are lots of wheat-free cereals in the organic section of my Loblaws (e.g. puffed rice, puffed millet) and also health food stores. Maybe check that out...

I will try to think of other safe cereals we ate in the past and maybe that will provide some help....

K.

thanks Karen - we do buy Nutrios, and also eat Rice Krispies, Corn Pops and Crispix (seems fine with the malted barley, despite the barley allergy). I am just hoping to find some safe "sugary" cereals to have for special occasions and another option for a "treat".

If you look for the envirokids the have some good suger cereals.. One is a version of cocopebbles it is called Kola something has a pictuer of a Kola on it.. They also Have a peanut falvored one(no good if you allergic to peanuts).. and they also have gorla cruch, a version of Corn pops and I do beleive on that is like fruit loops..
They also make wheat/gluten free gronla type bars.. Most are made with fruit, so I am no sure how those are as my dd is allergic to berries too..

They also make some good cookies that are maple flavored..

I know they make another cereal but can't remember the name..

Hope you find something..

Sherry
