This is a new product. I am not sure about cross-contamination issues. But, it looked cool.

I make my own cheese cake with tofutti cream cheese and it is awesome too!

One of the cakes is Chocolate Hazelnut and contains "hazelnut syrup".

I have an email into the contact person there. I will report back when I get a response.

But if nuts are in the facilities, well, they're no good for our family unfortunately.

Saskmommy - have you posted your cheesecake recipe? I would be interested in that!

From the contact at Chi Cakes:

Although all my products are vegan, glutenfree and trans fats free, I'm afraid they do contain nuts: cashews and almonds in the crust, plus the organic hazelnut syrup, as you correctly observed.

Rats. :(

Darn!!! But, I guess they might be okay if you have dairy allergy and not nuts...unfortunately not us either.

I had posted the cheesecake recipe I use before. It is AMAZING!

http://vegancooking.com/recipes/cheesecake.htm

In fact this vegan cooking site has lots of good dairy/egg free recipes.

The Chi Cake guy emailed me again and said he has tried making the crusts without nuts--using rice flour, etc.--but can't quite get the yumminess factor/mouth feel he is looking for.

So... if anyone out there has a good vegan gluten-free nutfree crust recipe, please let me know and I'll pass it on.

(I'm starting to feel like an allergy consultant to companies!)
