We discovered Mapleton Organics on the weekend, an ice cream and frozen yogurt that are nut, peanut, wheat and gluten. The Capuccino flavour is "not guaranteed to be nut free" which gives me some pause for concern however. I did drop them an email to verify and we'll likely go for a visit since they're so close to us.

You can see their allergen info at: http://www.mapletonsorganic.ca/images/icecream_06.pdf

Jeff, Do they have an actual "ice cream shop" where you can go buy an ice cream cone?

Yup complete with a spelt cone option for those not partaking in gluten.

That's great news!! We have family and friends out that way, so we'll definitely have to check it out! Is their ice cream shop located at RR#1 Wellington Rd?

when I put in their address in Google Maps they show up as item C on the left hand side:

The little popup on Google Maps says the address is:
8548 Wellington Road 7
Moorefield, ON N0G 2K0
(519) 638-1115
mapletonsorganic.ca

Thanks! I've also emailed them regarding our son's list of allergens - I wonder if they use egg in their ice cream?? Probably not, but we'll check for all of his allergens prior to making the trip out there. Thanks again.

thanks Jeff -- I'd be curious to know how they respond to your email about the cappuccino flavour...

My PA son has eaten this ice cream, all flavours except cappuccino. I did call the company last year and they told me that the cappuccino is not guarenteed because the coffee supplier did not give written proof of being a peanut/nut free facility...the other suppliers had...

I have seen the ice cream at Loblaws.

I heard from Mapleton today... unfortunately (for us) their ice cream does contain egg. Here is their email reply:

Hi Julie!

Unfortunately we use eggs in our ice cream and frozen yogurt. Since our ice cream and yogurts are organic we use the eggs to thicken the mixture instead of using an artificial additive.

Thanks for you inquiry.

Too bad :(
