I saw an ad for Hershey's (makers of Reese PB cups, Oh Henry's, etc.) Twizzlers and Nibs being manufactured in a "peanut-free" facility. Browsed their website but couldn't find anymore details. Did come across this: http://www.food.ca/content/view/1260/0/

Also saw Hershey's pumpkin shaped milk chocolates (for Halloween) with a "peanut-free" logo on it at the grocery store yesterday. I'm so glad they're seeing the benefits ($$) to serving the peanut/nut allergic!

I'm glad to see the peanut-free logo appearing on non-chocolate candies. At my son's school most of the parents do try to send peanut safe treats for parties. They are actually allowed to send in *may contain* but most people don't know that -- and it's not a point I want to push on them. For the few children with pa, it's nice that they can almost always enjoy whatever treat is sent in.

But, I'm so fed up with my son always getting chocolate. He's not allergic to any foods, but there are some foods that he has problems when he eats -- and chocolate is one of them. A little bit, once in a while is fine. And, as I said, I never complained about the chocolate (out loud) but I'm just glad that parents will have more choices to send in.
