lin101 started a very useful thread here:

(suggestions included mr. bento lunch thermoses, elle lunch bags, laptop lunchboxes, lock n' lock plastic containers)

http://www.allergicliving.com/forum/vie ... 2d23b5842a

But we kind of got off track, so I thought I'd start a new one.

I have my eye on these coolers:

http://polarbearcoolers.com/

** keeps ice frozen for 40+ hours!!
** the right size for carry on luggage
** size is adjustable
**waterproof, leakproof (unlike a regular cooler, you can turn it upside down and sideways and the ice won't leak out.)

The company representative returned my call promptly and was very knowledgeable about the product. They are going to have to get back to me on whether the bag is latex free. I'm undecided about what I'm going to do if it does contain latex---the rubberized coating is on the inside of the bag around the zipper area.

I'm also thinking about buying something from this company:

http://www.picnictime.com/

They sell insulated totes, backpacks, coolers on wheels, and all their products *look* cool.

I was very impressed with the company representative I spoke with---she gave me quite a lot of info.

I do like those insulated backpacks with the plates, cutlery, glasses, picnic blanket. And I don't go for picnics that often!

One other product I've inquired about:

http://www.stanley-pmi.com/shop/product ... oductID=12

I wanted to know whether the inside of the food jar was metal or plastic and whether it retained heat as long as the thermoses are supposed to, but my phone call was not returned . . at least not yet :?

They do sell stanley thermoses now at the Wamart near where I live----I liked the hot pink one!

Anyone have any other suggestions??

I want a wide mouthed thermos bowl that my 6 year old can open and close.
Every day her lunch bag comes back a mess because she can't close the containers properly and refuses to let the teacher help because the teacher might have some allergen on her hands from her own lunch/snack.
I like these for the lunch bag, too.
