Ya :thumbsup I bought a meat slicer. If it is not one thing its another. I buy one thing and it puts me in the market to need to buy something else. I guess when I slice a roast..... I will have to freeze it and I don't want to get freezer burn so I should now be in the market for, what do you call those shrink wrap, ?? where it sucks all the air out of the package of food. If anyone has one they are pleased with if you could let me know the brand. Thanks

Vacuum Food Sealers...should we start another thread?
I'll split the topic.

I purchased the Rival brand at Canadian tire about 10 years ago or so. It works fine for us. It's cheap and I can easily purchase more bags.

Susan, would it squish bread when all the air is taken out? I making so much home made bread, buns but they do get freezer burn. Nothing more irritating than going to all that work and then having to throw stuff away. But I need to have a supply ready for when we want them. It would be great to know they are sealed properly.

You can control the ammount of air that is removed. If you removed all the air that was possible, I suppose it would squish it but the Rival isn't as powerful as some of the others on the market. I just want to remove as much air as possible from meat & veg and then seal it air-tight.

We have been through 4 FoodSavers in the past 5 years. Finally gave up and just bought a commercial one; it arrived today.

Hope you have better luck. When they work, they are great.
