We received an e-mail from a reader who wanted to alert us to this:

I was shocked to learn that MINUTE MAID orange juice warns of peanuts, and wanted to bring this to your attention. My daughter has a severe peanut allergy. She was staying at her grandparents house when we discovered this. Thankfully they read the ingredients! I have attached a picture of the ingredients listed on the side of Minute Maid orange juice, taken at the grocerystore. Please distribute this information.

I'm not sure if it is easy to read but the ingredient label includes this:
Plant Sterols*

*Derived from highly refined vegetable oils such as soybean or peanut.

Are vegetable oils often made from peanut or soy?

I've read that "plant sterols" are derived from highly refined peanut or soybean oil.

Does this apply to all of their juices? I thought it was just the fortified ones. Regardless, I'll stick to tropicana.
