Hi.. We're looking for a dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free ice cream. Our go-to choice was Natur-a Glace but they have discontinued that line of products. What other alternatives are available?

I didn't know they discontinued Natur-a Glace. So sad, as I was hoping to try it some day. We have not found anything safe for nut and dairy allergies so we make our own. The recipe book 'Vegan Scoop' has some interesting recipes, as does 'Veganomicaon'. We also make instant sorbet with frozen fruit in our blender. We like how we can customise our ice cream flavours and make ice cream whenever we want to. Enjoy!

FYI - Finding nut-free, dairy-free soy creamer is very difficult. If you find some I'd love to know which brand it is.

My DS is milk allergic, and we try to stay away from too much soy, as DD is becoming allergic to some forms of it. We buy So Delicious Coconut Milk ice cream for both of them. They do use nut/peanut products in their factory, and their products have precautionary statements for allergens, but they have stringent cleaning processes, and test their batches for trace amounts of allergens, and I am OK giving their products to my kids - we buy vanilla and chocolate, and haven't had any problems. Here's some info from their site: http://sodeliciousdairyfree.com/made-with-care

ALLERGEN TESTING

It is Turtle Mountain's policy to exclude all allergens from our products unless they are known constituents of an ingredient and the allergen is declared on the package. We use state of the art testing procedures with sensitivity to the allergen down to five parts per million (5 ppm). Our allergen program involves validating the cleanliness of the processing line, auditing the raw materials and testing the intermediates and finished products.

Co-packers are required to process our products using the same procedures that exclude allergens from entering the system and products that our company plants do. These procedures include all of the above and any combination of the following:

Using specified ingredients from approved suppliers.
Use of allergen excluding scheduling.
Warehousing using methods that prevent cross contamination
EQUIPMENT CLEANING

We clean our processing plants using a 4-step process, utilizing the highest standards practiced in the industry. This process includes a hot water rinse, a caustic wash, a hot water rinse and finally a sanitizer rinse. To ensure that the all of the caustic wash is removed during the rinse phase the rinse water is tested.

Chapman's Sorbet (editted to say may contain milk due to cross contamination from the manufacturing process)
Luigi's Real Italian Ice
Minute Maid Frozen Lemonades
Or you can make it yourself. You can get an ice cream maker for $10-100 dollars. Ice cream is simply a frozen custard. :thumbsup

I didn't realize that Chapman's sorbet was free of traces of milk. The last I called it wasn't safe for milk. Have them changed their labels now?

I will have to scoop up some of the Natura Ice Cream before it is all gone. That's too bad.

Some of the So Delicious coconut ice cream line does not have traces of peanuts or nuts. That's what I was told when I called last fall. My understanding is that any products that may contain traces is clearly labelled.

You are absolutely correct! I just made a quick call to Chapman's and while free from dairy in the ingredients, it is made on the same line as their ice creams and so has the potential for cross contamination! :frightened

Renee, whom I spoke to, will make the suggestion to create a dedicated line.

Thank you for speaking up, that's what makes our community so great! :huggy

(I will amend my previous post)
