I'm looking for safe shredded coconut. All the kinds I see have a "may contain peanuts/nuts" kind of warning. I used to be able to get one from a Quebec company but it's nowhere to be seen now.

Anyone seen a safe brand with no warnings?

I use Jaffa raisins. They are made by Dalton's.

www.reinhartfoods.com

I have seen peanut-warnings on some Dalton products (baking candies) but no warning on the raisins. I did call them many years ago, but since labelling was trustworthy and I haven't noticed any change (still a few products with warnings) I don't call regularly.

Thanks Anna Marie.

I have sent an email to the company about their coconut. I'll report back when I get a reply!

Why did I answer a coconut question with a raisin answer? I would have said the same company - but, I really must have been in outer-space that day.

That's okay, AM. I think at the time I did the math and figured safe raisins = safe coconut.

I did get a detailed reply by email but have just been too busy to post it (so thanks ethansmom for doing that) or to even look for the product in stores... I guess my need for coconut hasn't been that extreme recently. (But it would be nice to get some for granola bars, etc.)

I got all excited about baking with safe coconut...and then I realized that I don't really know of any good recipes (without peanuts/nuts, of course).
Anybody have any they'd like to share?
