Has anyone else dealt with a mustard allergy? My 2 year old son just had an anaphylactic reaction last week and since has been tested positive for an allergy to mustard.

Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Mustard 101, Welcome :D

I know a lot now about many other foods but nothing about mustard. I hope someone is able to give you some tips. If you are in need of any support or allergy mama advice make sure you post on the infant-toddler/parenting thread at the top of the page. Many of us unfortunately have dealt with our kids anaphylaxis since they were just infants so you will find tons of great tips/advice/support there.

I hope your little guy is ok! That must have been scary for you all. Susan gave me great advice after using the epipen. She old me to sit down quietly with a teddy and give my DS the trainer epi and let him see it and talk about it. When I did he grabbed it and jabbed it as hard as he could into his teddy's belly, then handed it back to me and said 'all done'. I hadn't thought of showing it to him but it was a great suggestion, my instinct was to never show it to him as it would scare him but in truth the complete opposite is true. He isn't afraid of seeing it and he now will put it (the trainer) into his leg, then everyone else's leg for a try.

Welcome Mustard 101.

Sorry to hear about your little guy's reaction. Hope you're both feeling a little better this week.

We have this thread on mustard allergy, and a fair number of people on the site dealing with it:

p.s. That's nice advice BC2007.
