I’m taking my 3 year old daughter for a second opinion tomorrow morning. Her first allergist (referred by her paediatrician) was a dud – wouldn’t test for anything other than cashews, since we knew she had reacted to cashews. He said he prefers to test on a “case by case basis” and he wouldn’t test for other allergens until she had a reaction to something else. He wouldn’t even test for other nuts! He also gave me virtually no information and he gave me the impression he didn’t even want to be in the same room with a child.

My family doctor gave me the name of the allergist she uses in her practice and what luck! I Googled her name and a found a lot of positive references! She is frequently cited as “one of the leading allergists” in the country and she is the author of papers and a book on allergies! (Dr. Karen Binkley, BTW – anyone ever heard of her?). I’m actually looking forward to my daughter’s appointment now.

Just thought I’d share… :)
