OK - I'm getting excited. Some pretty good poems are starting to arrive :D

And thanks to Anaphylaxis Canada for sending around an e-blast about the contest. The more the merrier – so forum members, do try to mention it to friends, relatives. And if anybody feels the need for a little poetic inspiration, check out:

- Karen's fabulous sticky of poetry info in this thread. (Makes me want to hang around playing with rhyming couplets all day. If only one had time.)

- Karen's limerick - that's no small amount of talent, Ms. Mod. (Fortunately, the moderator isn't allowed to compete for these prizes  )

Awww, I really, really want to win :) Will me entry get lost in the shuffle if I submit it now instead of later, or does it matter?

No, no Ficbot – enter away. Allergic Living is carefully filing all entries for the judges.

Do it while you're inspired.

We're just trying to give people lots of time to enter.
Some do take longer with the creative process than others.

Some good ones coming in - but room for plenty more.

Could use more teenager entries, if you know any rhyming / rapping / haiku-ing adolescents.

Some impressive younger kids' and adult entries. See, the allergic and their parents are more talented.

I'm curious - who on the forum has entered the contest??

My kids and I cannot, since we live in Quebec (and I'm too ding-dong busy right now to even think about it, anway...)

Maybe someone else will enter an Ode to the Epi-Men... ;)

To avoid Quebec's cumbersome contest regulations, could our Epi-boys be honorary Mississaugans? e.g. the Mississauga grandparents submit on their behalf?

A parent or authorized caregiver does have to e-mail the entries and permiission for any younger poets.

Although odes to the Epi-Men of great lore does also have appeal.

Ficbot - a villanelle, wow, I'd forgotten about those. Did you study English perchance?

I'm okay with the Epi-Men not competing this year. I just have too much on my plate to also oversee budding poets as well. (Selfish mama, I know... but work, moving, moderating, conference planning... that's enough. ;) )

OK everyone - the countdown is on. Only two weeks until the entry cutoff in the Allergic Living poetry contest.

We've got some great entries - but there's still time for more. You or your child could be dubbed the Bard of the Boards.

And don't forget about those great prizes:

For adults - the incredible Sharp Plasmacluster air purifier.
For Teens - his or her Roots watch
For Kids - The Olympus digital camera

Give it shot (wish I could). Far better odds than the 649!

Last call to all allergy poets: The contest closes at midnight.

Thanks to all who've entered.

Your judges in this competition are:

- Kyle Dine, the one and only allergy singer-songwriter;
- Travis Brown, our Vancouver-based webmaster, who also happens to be a published poet and English major.
- Yours truly.

Stay tuned for the winners and the honourable mentions.

Gwen
