I often find a lot of conversation about protecting our children with food allergies.. But I'm a grown woman with only one food allergy (shellfish) and live in an area where it is abundant.
I have only had the sever reaction for the last 12 yrs. So I do miss the days of eating out.

I find this to cause me almost daily distress. I rarely eat out and makes for trouble being involved in a lot of Social gatherings. Therefore I feel left out, to top it off people don't understand and that makes it worse.

I've been to the hospital twice with an ana once in '95 and again in '99. The second was from a very small cross contamination. I have lost all faith in others preparing my food.

Is there any adults who struggle with their allergies and getting out to interact with large groups. In a few weeks we are invited to my husbands work party (which I probably won't attend) where they will be celebrating with a big mussle feast.

feeling hopeless

Yikes! Shellfish allergies in New Brunswick must be very difficult.

You are not alone. Our Gwen developed her allergies to soy and shellfish as an adult. why don't you post on the Etiquette and dating forum? You might find more suggestions there.
