Hi everyone!

I hope nobody will be offended or put off by this post, in light of the recent sad news from Quebec... but I do think it is important to share the positive times and small victories, too!

This weekend I went to Portugal (I'm living in England right now) and everything went smoothly - I packed all my food for the trip and was able to eat in the kitchen every night without problems. EVEN BETTER - in Lisbon I actually got the nerve to visit a Portuguese restaurant. Of course, I was very careful, and found a host that was fluent in English and understood allergies and had him take my order (I'm ana to nuts eggs shellfish and bananas). Despite anxiety, I had a delicious meal of potatoes and FRESH salmon! This was so huge for me, being able to eat fish in Portugal.. sounds silly I guess but I took Portuguese in my second year of university and loved it... to have a successful and authentic meal in Portugal was a mini dream come true.

Just wanted to share a happy moment. :)

L

Glad to hear it went so well. :)

I agree, we do need to share the good stuff too.

I bet that you were probably the one in the group who most appreciated the meal because it is so tricky to order safely!

Lisa,

Personally, I appreciate hearing successful travel stories. I get nervous when my trips come around, and your story makes me feel reassured that travel is possible with allergies! So, thank you for your post.
