Bug season is upon us and I was wondering what bug repellants are safe for allergic, sensitive individuals. I am looking for repellants that are not heavy on chemicals.
We had a situation two summers ago where my daughter might be bitten by a tick, and was treated for Lyme Disease.
So I am soooo looking for good repellant that works not only on mosquitoes but other bugs too.
Thank you all

The only thing I've ever found that works has DEET. Since my son is allergic to insect venom - I use it.

I did find out about some patches, but they are really expensive. I might invest in them if we go on vacation to a buggy place, but definitely to costly for in the city.

Thank you.
What brand of deet spray you use?
Patchs that you are mentioning, are those deet based too?
Take care

Sofia,
Buzz Away works great and is free of chemicals. I used it for the first time last year with great results.
Here's a link for some info:

Thank you Lisa, this product sounds great.
Is there any stores in Canada that have it, or you order it from States?
Thanks

The patch is called Insect Defend Patch. (There may be other brands available.) No deet.

I don't know if they have it in the States but I sell it at my store (montreal) and I'm pretty sure it's sold throughout Canada. If you have a hard time finding it, let me know. My store ships stuff across the world :)

It is available in the states. I was just looking at the web-site and clicked on "store locator". It says to type in the first four digits of your zip code.

I've never used this product -- just thought I'd post the info since I was looking at the site.

I looked up the Buzz Away and it won't work for us, there are several no-no ingredients in there :) Has anyone tried California Baby's insect repellant? Does it work?
