Today I went to a drop in playgroup at a gymnastics facility. The facility is peanut/tree nut free and had a waiver I've never been asked before to sign . The registration form asks if your child has allergies, yes or no. What the allergies are (I had to laugh as the space left was about 1.5 inches long...I opted to write 'see back of sheet'. ) Then it asks if your child wears his/her epipen yes or no. . And then there is a paragraph about f you give permission for the staff to administer life saving medication such as an epipen which you sign.. The lady at the counter even wanted to see his epipen was on him (or where it would be if I had it) and asked if I had his asthma medication and benadryl with me. :banana They GET IT!

Apparently several of the staff (all early 20's I'd say) have anaphylactic allergies. Not that I'm glad they have allergies but it really does help in having others understand the issues, recognize symptoms, administer epipen etc... When they say NO food in the gym area the mean it. Staff could potentially get just as sick as a child there with allergies playing.
Looks like DS has a safe place to play :happydance

I'm so glad for you guys! :thumbsup Go play!! When DD was little, it seemed no one got it. Now it seems more people know, cause more people are affected. Silver lining in clouds, I guess.
