Tuesday, October 3: “Food Allergy Family”
Rachael helps a family with a young son, who suffers from severe food allergies, create a meal they can all eat. Plus, find out which foods some say are bad, that actually are good for you. And, Rachael asks, “Are men getting too pretty?” http://www.citytv.com/rachaelray/episode.asp

I just found out from a friend that this aired last Tuesday on City TV. Did anyone catch it? I haven't seen this show before but think it's great that food allergies were given the spot light!

I saw it, though with my toddler in the room, so... you know how that is! From what I caught, it was pretty good. Number one I was thrilled that she was giving airtime to food allergies. I also liked that they discussed the severity of the boy's allergies (details on this are sketchy for me, but I know they asked the boy's mother about reactions).

I didn't think the recipe she created specially for the allergic boy's family was so great though. It was "pizza burgers," to help the family have pizza night, according to Rachael. You can see the recipe here: http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/?q=recipes/food-allergies

I was initially excited about the recipe, because it was created for a boy whose allergies are similar to Alexander's. However, as you can see in the ingredient list, it's really not so friendly after all. You still have to seek out "safe" version of many things (sausages, focaccia, etc.).

All that said, I am still really impressed that she did the feature, and hope that she will do more in the future.
