An OASG member alerted me to the fact that Kids’ CBC was having a contest called “Kid Canada”, where kids can write in to tell what they do to show that they care about others. If they are picked they become Hero of the Hour at some point and their picture is shown on TV.

I thought it would be good for Kids’ CBC to hear about Epi-Man and Epi-Man Jr., so I helped my oldest send in a letter. They will each be the Hero of the Hour tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 21st).

I’m not sure what will be said, but I’m assuming/hoping there will be mention of food allergies. It would be nice for our cause to get a little more exposure - and at the same time my kids are very happy that their pic will be on TV. :D

Details of when they will be announced as Hero of the Hour:
- Epi-Man: at approximately 7:00 am, right after The Friendship Song
- Epi-Man Jr.: at approximately 8:00 am, right after Bruno

For those of you with young children: If your kids would like to be part of this contest, go to http://www.cbc.ca/kidscbc/ , then click on Contests and Mail, then Kid Canada (on the image of the fridge). It’s pretty easy and fun for the kids!

How cool!

Once again, the Epi-Men carry the torch for allergic children everywhere.

They clearly do have superpowers.

And that Max, way to pitch a story, buddy.

I like to think he's a chip off the old blockette. ;)

Aaah, too bad I didn't read the post last night! I missed them!

Good for all of you guys. I like the way your boys are advocates at such a young age.

Actually, it was a tad anti-climactic... They just said that Max was Hero of the Hour for using his great imagination to help kids with food allergies. Not a lot of detail! But he was very pleased, so I'm happy. (He even set an alarm clock to make sure he didn't miss it.)

I had to leave for work so missed my youngest's bit, but he got to see it. At least I taped it so they have it forever. :)

Definitely something fun to do for your little ones, though. They superimpose the child's head onto a superhero body and the superhero flies around while the child's name and a voiceover gives a brief description of why the child is Hero of the Hour.

Karen, Our family tuned in to watch both of your children this morning. It was great to see them both flying through the air! Thanks for letting us know about their television spot.
