Bryant’s raised her concerns about Lucas’s allergy to the school board at four or five meetings. But she still doesn’t think garlic restrictions are being enforced like other food allergies that are more common in the school.
I think this is in Newfoundland, but I'm not positive.

I'd like a food ban....... or a peanut, tree nut, sesame, gelatin, pea, lentil ban.....but somehow I don't think any of that is going to happen! It's great to wish though! :?

In this case, the school has attempted to rid its halls of garlic and no longer offers items including the seasoning.

It is hard for a caring and respectful attitude to be enforced on others.

Training all staff in schools on a yearly basis to recognize and react would be a good idea........

There is no escaping the fact that it is the allergy sufferer and their families who have to bear the burden of the problem.

Trying to pass that responsibility on to the general public simply won't work.

Here are the final lines from the article. I suspect that this concept of dumping the responsibility for keeping ourselves and our family members safe is what those who make nasty comments on other news stories are really trying to say.

We certainly don't believe that they can or should be responsible; what we ask for is cooperation. We cannot keep ourselves or our children safe in a mine field of allergens.
