It is awful that the school didn't take the boys symptoms seriously. I am confused by the creams though, is the child anaphylactic to something (mother talks about 'throat closing'), how can a cream interrupt the reaction? :scratchy

Suspect he had it there for eczema. Hope there was an Epi sent in with him, too. Child is thinking cream, nurse should have been astute enough to know Epi if his eye was so swollen. Ignoring him is awful, she'll probably (and should) face suspension.

I so get this mother....and the child as well....a person just never knows and children should NEVER be ignored and if ALL PEOPLE WORKING WITH CHILDREN were EDUCATED on the SERIOUSNESS OF ALLERGIES :banghead :banghead viewtopic.php?f=48&t=5758&start=15

Last year my 12 year old child “had a rash and was itchy all over”. When he told staff of his difficulties, he was sent to the office alone to call me, and then from there (alone again) to his home room to wait for me, without his homeroom teacher even being made aware of his problem. That's not how my family works at all having experienced anaphylaxis first hand.
The above is from a letter I wrote to all the MLA's here in Alberta (page 2 about half way down). When I wrote that letter I had also included a part about finding out that epi pens were locked up here, no one was being trained despite my asking but I made the mistake of asking someone who works for one of the mla's and they advised me to take that part out as well as the above quote  :banghead :banghead .....the reason I didn't take out the above is because I had had a lawyer send a letter on my behalf at an earlier time so I met the mla employee halfway....I regret that now. :verymad My elbows still shake when I think of things like this.

In the article is says how they will "investigate" Lets hope it is not all about legal issues it must go from investigate to educate. I find that just shocking poor little guy. As a mother I would be livid :verymad
I cannot comprehend that a teacher and mostly a nurse would not see a very serious problem! What would it take for them to see that there was a problem. That poor little boy's voice was not heard! Im sure if that little guy had been miss behaving they would have called the mother!
