Most parents in school communities are accommodating when there is a child with a food allergy in the school, York Region public health nutritionist and dietician Lucy Valleau said. “We are all in this together after all.”

While it may be difficult to tell an eight year old he can’t have peanut butter in his lunch, it’s a good idea to include him when packing alternatives.
“If children are fussy eaters, it is more likely they will eat their lunch if you involve them in making it,” Ms Valleau said.

Peanut butter alternatives are simple to find without sacrificing the nutritional value of nuts. When creating the ideal allergen-free lunch, start by including three of four
food groups.

I took the title of this discussion totally different from what it actually was. I thought you were having trouble with parents cracking peanuts around your child :rofl so glad you aren't and I am so happy parents are finding new things to pack for lunch
