Food allergy advocates want Peel restaurants to carry drug injectors

Quote:
A local support group for people with severe food allergies is urging Peel Region to make it mandatory for all food service outlets to carry life-saving medication.

“It’s a safety net that would be very good to have wherever possible,” said Mississauga resident Debbie Bruce, of the Canadian Anaphylaxis Initiative.

The City of Hamilton is currently looking at the possibility of requiring all restaurants to have medication on hand for people with severe food allergies.

Bruce wants Peel Region to follow that city’s lead.
