Very sad and tragic case. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/ ... -1.2713292

Some allergists are saying in the media that it's possible Ms. Roussel didn't know she'd become sensitized (allergic). Or maybe she hadn't told anyone outside her family?

A reminder: If you have insect venom allergy or know someone with it, pls. find out about venom immunotherapy. It's something like 90% effective.

For keeping wasps, bees away from your home / cottage, see the following post: http://allergicliving.com/2014/07/16/st ... and-wasps/

CTV has an update. Sounds like mayor did not know she was allergic.

Allergists suspect she must have been.

Dr. Susan Waserman, an allergist at McMaster University, said it's extremely uncommon for someone to die as a result of insect venom directly, although there are a few cases in the medical literature.
