This is a bit old, but I hadn't seen it before so thought I'd post it.

New research from Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology shows anthroposophic lifestyle reduces risk of allergic disease in children

MILWAUKEE - Certain features of the anthroposophic lifestyle, such as restrictive use of antibiotics and fever antipyretics, reduce the risk of allergic disease in children, according to a new study.

More details at http://www.aaaai.org/media/news_releases/2006/01/011706a.stm.
---------------------------------
This paragraph in particular leapt out at me:

Quote:
Researchers observed a lower prevalence of current symptoms and doctor's diagnosis of rhinoconjunctivitis and atopic eczema and asthma and atopic sensitization in the Steiner school children compared to non-Steiner children. Early use of antibiotics and fever reducers, along with the measles, mumps and rubella vaccination were also associated with increased risks of several allergic symptoms and doctor's diagnoses.

Apparently "anthroposophic lifestyle" = one in which health is a combination of mind, body and spiritual balance.

Steiner being the man behind many of the ideas of waldorf education. A BIG part of what anthroposophic lifestyle is healthy eating...primarily fruits and veggies...preferably raw. Also, the idea is not just to not give your kids meds if they need them...but to keep the kids healthy with diet first to prevent the need for meds.

I have always wondered about vaccination. After all, we are playing with the immune system, the very same thing that makes you react when you have allergies!

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a link.

Same thing with antibiotics.
