I was told at the last minute that the Victoria Confederation PAC (all parent groups for the district) was meeting last night AND Bill M 210 was on the agenda. Another mom and I zipped down to the meeting to answer questions on the bill. After questions and answers (and complete agreement for the need, it seemed) the group motioned to support the bill! They also said they would bring it forward at the province-wide PAC meeting that is coming up -- it was great to have such support.

It was also wonderful that there was a representative from the Greater Victoria Teachers Association. She said that her group recently agreed to support the bill as well. We are getting somewhere!

Two trustees from District 61 were there as well -- and they were nodding a lot but they seem to think that the district policy would need 'few changes' should there this become law. I wish I had said that it is not being applied evenly -- but the chair of the meeting said that when he read the bill he noted that there were things missing in this extensive policy. I think I said something to the effect that we need the teeth of the law. . . perhaps this wasn't the best tact given the company but what can I say? I do my best.

Support is mounting. But we all must keep contacting all people who have a part in taking care of our kids. I have already done a follow up email with the trustees.

Caroline, That's wonderful news.

You are getting somewhere - and don't sweat the small stuff. We all have that 20/20 hindsight.

Great on you two for zipping down to the meeting.

I also meant to say "way to go"! That's great that you found about the meeting and got there in time to contribute! And that's fantastic that they are supporting the bill.

Well done!
