I just wanted to know if anybody knew what i should do about this:
at the end of the year my class is going to a water park and i don't know wut to do with my epipen, since i can't get it wet? I don't want to put it in a locker or cubbie because it would take too long to get it.

So if you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

Hi,

There is a special tube that is waterproof I got the following info from the Anaphylaxis Canada Web site. That way you could still have it on you (It would make a cool tan line)

Quote:
Protectube™
A reusable protective container for epinephrine auto-injector
Waterproof, buoyant, latex free. Easy to open.
Fits Ana-Tote‘ or Ana-Tote Twin‘.

Item D302 $15.00

Depending where you live you may also contact:

Quote:
All Star Sales, 4 Vata Court, Unit 15, Aurora, Ontario, Canada L4G 4B6
Tel: (905) 727-9135 Toll-free in North America: 1-800-361-0072
Fax: (905) 727-0964
Email: info@allstarsales.ca Home Page: www.allstarsales.ca

I hope this info helps.

Maybe you can also give it to one of the teachers/volunteers that is there to supervise.
When there is such a large area to cover I find if the supervisers have walkie talkies with them it helps

What I've done in the past at an indoor wave pool, and at Canada's Wonderland, is I have my epi-pen in a pouch (fanny pack) and I clip it to a life-guards chair. I tell them that I have an anaphylactic allergy and my epi-pen is in this. When they are changing - new guard coming to that chair - I tell them, though usually I've seen the guard leaving pointing to my bag, and then pointing to me in the water.

Good luck, and have fun. :)

That's a great idea AnnaMarie!! We will likely use this when we go to a wave pool with our kids this summer. Thanks!

K.

Hi Pinkster 101,

I think AnnaMarie and Sil have great ideas for you. `

I think it is very responsible and extremely smart of you to worry about keeping your Epi-pen as close as possible.

Have fun on your trip! :D

An added advantage to clipping it to the life-guards chair is the life-guard then knows you have an epi-pen. They are trained to use them. And, as far as little kids - the life-guard will be watching them closely after that, and we all want a life-guard just watching our kid, right?
