I have had my children's school implement a handwashing upon entry policy in both their classrooms -- to cover those students who eat pb at home for breakfast or lunch and may not adequately wash their hands before school. My kids, both aged 10 but in different schools, are now going into grade 5.

Do you think it remains a reasonable precaution to have this handwashing procedure in place? The classmates are used to it in my son's class, and they were in my daughter's class, but my daughter is going to a new school on Tuesday with 6 of her classmates from her old school. So those kids are used to it but I'm not sure about the rest. The principal is, luckily, the same my daughter had in her old school, and she is supportive, but I wonder if there is a point where it becomes more annoying, or embarrassing for daughter, than protective.

Thanks,
Joanne

I think that most schools are trying to support better handwashing these days as H1N1 flu is in the news right now.

I think implementing hand washing to all the children upon entry to the classroom is a best idea ever.
