So it was kindergarten registration at our school recently. There has always been tea/coffee etc. set up for registration. This year there wasn't !! :happydance The secretary told me that they asked her if it had been arranged and she suggested they NOT have any beverages or snacks due to the fact that they are trying to emphasis NO food rewards and no food for birthdays etc.. And that by serving food here it only works against what they are trying to instill. She was also concerned ( :banana ) that if any children with allergies came with their parents for registration they would be in a room with these snacks.

WARMS my heart to see people 'getting it'. :huggy

Whenever people talk about meeting with administrators I automatically think - get to know the secretaries too! They often remain at schools longer than administrators and they are the ones to grant you access to administrators. :huggy A good administrator will listen to her office staff as will teachers. Secretaries are in an unique position to share information with others in the school.

The secretary at my child's school and also the one where I work just happen to carry epi-pens themselves.

Thats great to hear! It always makes you feel encouraged when people really 'do' get it.
J's teacher last year told his class they wouldnt be having a kris kringle at xmas time (where all the kids buy a present...usually chocolate...to put under the tree to 'share'). Instead he suggested if they wanted to donate a couple of dollars they could buy a goat and a sheep for a family in a 3rd world country. The kids were VERY enthusiastic about providing a family with an animal and werent fussed at all with not having the kris kringle.

I was IMPRESSED!
