Good point regarding registration, register each member of your family or only one person gets a shirt. We only got 1 shirt for the 4 of us as only my name was registered. Fortunately there were extra shirts at the end which they gave out.
SO glad to hear all the $ is put to good use. :thumbsup I totally get the concern, DH was worried about that also as other charity donations we've made in the past we have learned a very small portion has actually gone to the cause we thought.

Yeah for AAIA, it was an amazing walk today and we had a great time. :happydance

Good to hear it went well in Ottawa, you had a great day for it.
How was the turnout?

p.s. I've witnessed AAIA hand off a big cheque to CAAIF (Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation) at the CSACI dinner. I wouldn't worry about cost deductions with AAIA – they're definitely raising for research. Though I see why that wording might throw you off.

Article on the Mississagua AAIA Walk. :thumbsup :banana

This is a very good article, I especially like this part
Quote:
"Nothing prepares you for a life-threatening medical condition and when we were told there was no cure or no treatment and that we just needed to avoid the allergen, it sounds simple, but out in the real world, it's daunting," said Bruce, adding that back when her first son was diagnosed, there was little information out there on anaphylaxis.
This is a very good article, I especially like this part. :thanksign :thumbsup

Anyone hear anything about Kelowna? Their walk was last weekend.

We had a great time today at Winnipeg's Walk!

It was an honour to meet Sara Shannon :huggy. She was gracious and let us share our stories of how Sabrina's story has impacted our lives in positive ways. Sara is truly an inspiration.

Many thanks to Nancy Boni, our wonderful chair of MAIN - Manitoba Anaphylaxis and Information Network - and all of her volunteers! They did a great job and got us a warm and sunny day.

:huggy thanks for letting us know! I was wondering if it would even be a go with whats going on with the flood situation in Manitoba. You are right, it is an honour to meet Sara Shannon....I am a voice person....isn't her's nice? I could listen to some people talk just for the pleasure of their voice, I also find it very calming....I hope she knows how much she has helped us all by speaking about Sabrina.......and darn, if I'd have known she was going to be there, I might have taken my dh's offer to go....he was gonna pay the way! and I said no, cause I thought I could do so much better with the moey it would have taken to fly there to do something else with it instead. Shoot.
Sure hope we can have a walk here next year.

Anyone know of any news on the other walks in Canada for AAIA today?

The flooding is horrific in many areas of Manitoba but right in Winnipeg we are protected by the floodway. The rivers are still high in the city though and we saw a lot of sandbags on riverbanks.

I'm a voice person too - never thought of it that way! I was so choked up when she was speaking and later one-on-one that I honestly did not pay attention to the sound and cadence. I did check my pocket at least 50 times to make sure I did not lose her card! Some of us also spoke with her sister who produced A Nutty Tale. :thumbsup http://allergicliving.com/index.php/201 ... utty-tale/
