The conference was really good this year. Bravo to Anaphylaxis Canada.

Very nice to meet some of you from the Forum and Facebook there.
Nice to put faces to usernames.

Allergic Living was incredibly honored to win the Susan Daglish award for community service this year. (It was especially to do with our label and airlines advocacy.)

We were nominated by Sara Shannon, and Susan Daglish (the dynamic woman who founded the first Cdn. anaphylaxs group ... in 1964!) presented. Plus it was Anaphylaxis Canada's 10th anniversary. So I felt quite humbled and bit emotional to accept. Means a lot to the whole team at AL.

Dr. Susan Waserman was the highly deserving individual winner for community service. She does so much, including of course, offering her advice to our readers in AL mag.

The conference was so well organized again and very informative. The session on the new research was very interesting and gave our family so much hope. Gwen, can Allergic Living cover some of the information that Dr. Vadas covered about the "patch" desensitization research? There seems to be more and more options coming up through research which offer paths to possible cures to allergy or at least to anaphylactic reactions.

I thought the teen panel was an incredibly important session of the day. I wish it had been longer. Like most parents sitting there, my dream for my daughter is that she will become a confident young adult who is able to articulate her needs and concerns about her allergies just like the members of the panel. These teens offered us insight into what life is like for an allergic teen and their perspective on how their parents dealt with allergy issues. With only about 20 minutes for the panel there wasn't time for many questions thought. I told my almost 10 year old daughter about the teens and it was interesting for her. These teens would be great role models for her.

Sorry I didn't get to talk to you Gwen. Congratulations on the award! It is well deserved.

Here is a link to the company which is doing the skin patch desensitization. It has links to the published article about the milk trial.
